Our past trainees have moved on to competitive academic, industry, and health-related careers (see our Lab Alumni page).
We are always recruiting trainees of all levels (undergraduate, graduate students, and postdocs) from various scientific backgrounds.
- Undergraduate students: We require a minimum commitment of 5 hours per week, at least in the first semester. We usually pair undergraduate students with a graduate student or postdoc mentor. We expect undergraduate students to commit to one full semester with our lab. The first semester acts as a volunteer-based trial period, after which performance will be evaluated and decisions made about continuing in the lab.
- If you are interested in a volunteer position, please complete our Undergraduate Experience and Interest Survey, and send this survey along with your updated Resume/CV to our lab email account (SayuLab@utah.edu).
- Graduate students: Our lab can admit students through MS or PhD programs in Department of Health & Kinesiology, Department of Mechanical Engineering, or Department of Biomedical Engineering. We encourage candidates to consider the admission requirements for these programs, and we highly encourage candidates to reach out directly to Dr. Takahashi (kota.takahashi@utah.edu) before submitting an application. For Fall admissions, we typically review applications in early December, and schedule interviews in January.
- Postdocs: Positions are available pending funding status. We encourage all postdocs to submit their own fellowship applications (e.g., NIH F32, internal T32 fellowships). Interested candidates should contact Dr. Takahashi (kota.takahashi@utah.edu).
