Emma Caringella is an MS student in the Cognitive and Motor Neuroscience research theme in the Department of Health & Kinesiology. She received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University in 2024. Her relevant undergraduate experiences include clinical gait analysis of children with cerebral palsy, 3D modeling for cardiac and orthopedic surgical cases, and upper-limb prosthetic design/manufacturing. Emma’s research in the clinical gait lab ignited her passion for helping individuals with neuromuscular disease and other movement disabilities to achieve greater independence. Currently, Emma is interested in researching how shock absorbing components of varying stiffness in lower-limb prostheses affect musculoskeletal health. In her free time, Emma loves trail running, cycling, traveling, and doing anything she can outside!
