About Me
Gavin Nix is currently an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at the University of Utah. A Marine Corps veteran and a below-the-knee amputee, Gavin's personal experiences have been the motivation for his passion in the field of prosthetics. He recognizes the significant role biomechanics plays in creating functional prostheses and aspires to become a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist (CPO). Gavin's research interests lie in pushing the boundaries of prosthetic design and functionality. He hopes to contribute to advancements that enhance the lives of others and empower them to regain their previous activity levels, just as his own prosthetist’s have done for him. Outside of academics, Gavin is a member of the USA Paraclimbing Team, an assistant coach for a local high school wrestling team, and a full-time cat dad of two.
