Lauren Williams is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Health and Kinesiology. She received a BS in Exercise Science and Outdoor Recreation at Utah Valley University in 2019, before completing her MS in Exercise Science at Brigham Young University in 2021. Her master’s thesis investigated the effect of the windlass mechanism on kinetic and kinematic foot joint coupling. After completing her master’s degree, she continued her academic journey at Brigham Young University where she completed her PhD in 2025. At the beginning of her PhD, she had her first child and her experience with foot pain during pregnancy inspired her dissertation project where she investigated the stiffness of the plantar fascia and foot joint kinematics and kinetics throughout and after pregnancy. Her research interests include exploring foot function during normal and atypical tasks/environments and investigating the short and long-term effects of pregnancy on joint health and function. In her free time, she enjoys being outside with her family (hiking, paddle boarding, fishing etc.) or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
