Future applicants to the University of Utah Doctor of Physical Therapy program

Program changes due to COVID-19

We are going through an unprecedented crisis with COVID-19.  Many of you have had interruptions to your daily life. We are aware and sensitive to these changes and hope that you and your families are safe during these difficult times.

For many at our undergraduate institutions, because of the transition to online learning, a Pass/Fail or Credit/No-Credit grading system has been adopted.

Prerequisite changes in grade requirements starting Spring 2020

To accommodate these changes, anyone enrolled in Spring 2020 and/or Summer 2020 for a prerequisite to our DPT program is not required to earn a letter grade. Applicants will not be penalized for Pass/Fail or Credit/No-Credit marks on their transcripts in any classes taken Spring 2020 and Summer 2020. The Admissions Committee understands this change and will not hold it against individual applicants.

 Additional program changes

In turn, we are also closely monitoring the situation when it comes to our other criteria, including observation hours, shadowing experiences, community service, leadership ability, etc. We will continue to work with our national and local partners including the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and PTCAS (Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service).

Thank you for your patience during these difficult times.

University of Utah Graduate Admissions Application (Supplemental) Application #2

Only applicants who are invited to interview will be required to submit an application to the University of Utah Graduate School using  Apply Yourself. The deadline for this application will be sent with the interview invitation. Transcripts do need to be submitted with the University of Utah Graduate School application, but applicants may submit unofficial transcripts until an admission offer is given. Upload unofficial transcripts by scanning a paper copy of your transcripts onto your personal computer, or if your institution allows, you can download transcripts electronically and save them as one document onto your personal computer. This applies to ALL applicants, including those who attend the University of Utah as undergrads. Do NOT attach a DARS report nor a link to an electronic transcript, as the Graduate Admissions Office will NOT consider either.

You do not need to complete the following sections:

  • Resume
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Post Sumission Sections
  • Or, send GRE scores with the University of Utah Supplemental Application.

The DPT program begins the second week of May. Indicate on the application that you are applying for Summer Term (May)

If you are reapplying, when submitting the University of Utah Supplemental application only, the recommendation is to use a DIFFERENT email address than used during your previous application.
