Curriculum
We are excited to offer a graduate healthcare curriculum in athletic training. Here are a few key points about our curriculum:
- Integration with other healthcare programs on the University of Utah Health Science campus.
- Utilization of learning opportunities and hands-on skills using resources in the College of Health and our University of Utah partner, the University Orthopaedic Center.
- Maximization of full time clinical immersive experiences during the 2nd "clinical" program year.
Policies & Resources
Students admitted to the MAT program must adhere to all requirements and policies. This includes compliance and immunization requirements.
We strongly encourage admitted and prospective students to review the MAT Student Handbook.
Compliance and immunization details are discussed in the 'Requirements and Verification' section of the MAT Student Handbook (pg. 26).
International applicants must adhere to specific policies and guidelines. If you are an international applicant, please review the policy below prior to applying on ATCAS.
The MAT program has select slots for the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP), available to eligible non-Utah residents from specified locations in the western United States. Recipients of WRGP slots are awarded tuition at 150% of the resident/in-state rate.
There are various avenues for securing funding assistance for graduate education, including select MAT program scholarships. We encourage students accepted to the MAT program to conduct their own research into funding opportunities, as there are many more than those included in the resource below:
MAT program costs are dependent on various factors, including residency status and tuition rate increases. The Office of the Bursar provides the most up to date tuition/fee schedules and tools for tuition/fee estimates. For accurate costs, please navigate to the specific tuition schedule for, 'Master of Athletic Training, College of Health'.
AT Program Funding
The AT Program reimburses up to $500 of travel costs for eligible students invited to present at a conference. It is expected that students will also apply (at minimum) for the Graduate Student Travel Assistance Award and other funding opportunities available. Other funding for conferences or travel may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Please refer to the student handbook for details.
