The College of Health Alumni Board (CoH) at the University of Utah seeks dedicated alumni to serve as ambassadors for the College, fostering engagement among students, alumni, and the broader community. Board members support the College's mission "to redefine the human health span—adding more years to our life and life to those years," while promoting health and healthy living.
Alumni Board Overview
As a Board Member, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the College, engage with fellow alumni, and support current and future students through mentorship and networking.
How to Apply to the Alumni Board
Applications are open year-round until positions are filled. Interested candidates should complete and submit the Alumni Board application.
- Attend Quarterly Board Meetings: Participate in meetings held each January, April, August, and October. Members may attend in person or via Zoom, as permitted.
- Contribute to Philanthropic Efforts: Commit to contributing to the College of Health financially in a personally meaningful way (no minimum giving amount) and assist in donor engagement initiatives each year.
- Foster Alumni Engagement: Serve as an ambassador by building connections within and outside personal networks, signing up for Forever Utah to serve as a mentor, and assisting with outreach efforts. Act as a liaison between the College of Health and other alumni by sharing information and encouraging collaboration.
- Promote Community: Encourage a sense of belonging on the Board and among alumni by participating in CoH events and networking activities.
- Support Student Development: Mentor students by visiting classrooms (as scheduled) and attending events to expand your professional and personal network.
- Represent Cllege of Health Departments: Provide representation for your respective College of Health department, including:
- Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
- Physical Therapy & Athletic Training
- Occupational & Recreational Therapies
- Health & Kinesiology; Health Promotion & Education; Exercise Sports Science
- Parks, Recreation, & Tourism; Leisure Studies
- Nutrition & Integrative Physiology
- Communication Sciences & Disorders
Members of the Alumni Board can expect the following support:
- Regular Updates: Receive timely updates regarding the College's vision, initiatives, plans, and staffing changes.
- Effective Communication: Expect clear and effective communication from College of Health staff regarding Board activities and initiatives.
- Administrative Support: The College will provide administrative support to assist Board members with records, votes, meeting materials, and other necessary resources.
- Term Length: Three years, with the option to renew for up to one consecutive term.
- Engagement: Commit to attending College of Health alumni events, actively participate in at least one committee or work group, and maintain a strong working relationship with College of Health Alumni and Advancement staff.
- Alumni Status: A graduate of the University of Utah College of Health.
- Commitment: Demonstrates dedication to the mission and goals of the College of Health.
- Influence: Ability to foster connections locally or nationally to support alumni engagement efforts.
- Philanthropy: Willingness to contribute financially and assist in generating additional resources for the College, as directed by the College of Health Advancement Director.
- Engagement Skills: Strong interpersonal and networking abilities, with a passion for promoting health and healthy living.
