    Located in Southern Utah, our St. George expansion program at Utah Tech University (UTU), has gorgeous scenery and state of the art amenities. The newly constructed Human Performance Center has updated technology and equipment. The amazing anatomy lab located in the Science, Engineering & Technology Building is also a new addition to the UTU campus. The campus is less than an hour away from Zion National Park and within two hours of Bryce Canyon National Park and Las Vegas.

    Yes! You are a student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Utah. You will receive your degree from the University of Utah. You will be at the University of Utah expansionprogram located at Utah Tech University in St. George, UT. You will have all the local amenities of a UTUstudent while also getting the benefits of a University of Utah student.

    Yes. You will have the opportunity to know and learn from each faculty member in person and virtually whether they are based in SLC or St. George. Each SLC-based Faculty member will teach on the St. George Campus. St. George-based faculty will provide in-person teaching, support, mentorship, and communication. You will also have access to each faculty member during set office hours where you can Zoom, email, or call the faculty, as appropriate. With our blended learning model, consisting of teleconference and in-person learning, you will be getting the same experience and education as the Salt Lake campus students. Each campus will have in-person interactions with all Faculty and each campus will participate in the teleconference learning with the aid of an in-person instructor.

    Large screen monitors and cameras are located in each classroom where the instructor will be projecting themselves from SLC to St. George, or St. George to SLC. This will ensure students are engaged and able to participate in class at both campuses. The technology is equivalent to Zoom where you can see and interact with the other person or classroom. For lab sessions,  on-site faculty will be demonstrating and facilitating in each location.

    No. They are the same program, with the same curriculum and the same CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation of PT Education) accreditation. You are part of the DPT program within the University of Utah Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. We are all one cohort. You will have the same schedule, learning opportunities and course work.

    Yes. All students in the DPT program will complete clinical experiences located within the state of Utah or out of state, depending on student preference and site availability. There is a part time experience at the end of Year 1 and Full-Time Experiences during Year 2 and 3 where you will complete clinical experiences in the following areas:

    • inpatient acute care (or other setting with at least a 50% inpatient acute care component)
    • outpatient orthopedic practice
    • neurological rehabilitation (pediatric or adult / IP or OP), and
    • geriatrics or optional- based on student preference and learning needs

    Yes, tuition for Salt Lake City and St. George are identical. Resident and Non-Resident rates still apply. Click here for further tuition information or visit financialaid.utah.edu.
