Community Partners
Working with community partners we focus on strategies that leverage assets in rural communities and small towns to address childhood obesity through locally delivered programs.
We support communities preparing for and implementing evidence-based Family Healthy Weight Programs (FHWP). Options for FHWP, such as the Building Healthy Families (BHF) program, provide nutrition education and promote healthful eating and physical activity for families who live in rural communities and small towns and have children aged 6–12. BHF was designed with and for small rural communities to assist families make healthy lifestyle changes.
The Mountain West Prevention Research Center (MW-PRC) collaborates with community health centers, state and local health departments, and community-based organizations in a regional Network of organizations prioritizing this work across Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
