Sandra is an Associate Professor (Lecturer) Emeritus at the University of Utah, College of Health, Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies City. Sandra authored the proposal for the Recreational Therapy Program and served as the program’s first Program Director of Recreational Therapy. Prior to moving to the Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapy Sandra taught in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (PRT) for over 30 years, first as an instructor and then as an Assistant Professor. She coordinated their Therapeutic Recreation Emphasis, taught in the experiential education emphasis and the general recreation core. She served on 35 master student committees and was a clinical advisor on numerous Ph.D. dissertations. Sandra has authored clinical practice books, textbook chapters, numerous journal articles, and contemporary publications.
She served for 23 years as the Manager of Expressive Therapies for the Universities’ Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI), was also the Director of Adolescent Services and Founder and Director of the organization’s Self-Esteem Institute.
