Dr. Jonathan Kinzinger received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Utah in 1997, his DPT from Slippery Rock University in 2002, and has been a Board-certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy since 2007. Dr. Kinzinger worked in numerous settings for the University of Utah (acute care, burn unit, orthopedics, and wound care) before settling in the inpatient medical rehab unit. He has been a part of the stroke team for the vast majority of his career but also has extensive experience in SCI, TBI and amputee management. Dr. Kinzinger has great interest in 3D printed braces to improve function early in the rehab setting.
Dr. Kinzinger is the residency program's primary stroke team mentor. He also teaches in cardiopulmonary, therapeutic exercise, and neuromuscular management courses in the University of Utah DPT program. He has presented at many continuing education courses and conferences over the years on topics related to PT management of the stroke patient and population. Dr. Kinzinger has high standards and expectations and strives to challenge the residents with whom he works. He emphasizes differential diagnosis and seeing the bigger picture of the patient regarding their underlying and/or undiagnosed impairments.
Dr. Kinzinger spends his personal time biking, running, or dirt biking when he is not running his kids around the region for their various activities.
