Cost of Attendance

MAT program costs are dependent on various factors including a student's pathway (residential or hybrid), residency status and tuition rate increases.
The Office of the Bursar provides updated tuition schedules and a general tuition estimator.

Please select a pathway below to learn more about cost of attendance.

During summer semesters, all students are charged tuition at the resident rate. During fall and spring semesters, rates are determined by residency status.
An estimate for tuition and fees per semester is provided below. The totals for each semester are calculated based on MAT curriculum credit hours and include the program’s differential tuition of $2004.50 per semester. Rates for the second year fall and spring semesters are based on a predicted average annual increase of 3.20%.

The MAT program has select spots for the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP).
Eligible non-resident recipients are awarded tuition at 150% of the resident/in-state rate. Learn if you are eligible:

We strongly encourage non-resident students to reclassify their residency for tuition purposes using one of the following methods:

      • Reclassify prior to beginning their program
      • Reclassify after completing their first program year

To determine which of the above reclassification methods you are eligible for, visit the Utah Admissions residency website. For assistance and questions, reach out to the residency team or attend one of their information sessions. We strongly encourage non-residents to begin looking into reclassification options as soon as possible to determine next steps and timeframes. Master of Athletic Training personnel do not determine or evaluate residency for tuition purposes.

International student fees are higher due to a $150 per semester International Student Surcharge. F-1 visa guidelines require international students to be enrolled full-time during their first semester. To fulfill this requirement, international students must enroll in the full semester 5-credit course, PH TH 6040: Gross Anatomy, provided through the Physical Therapy program in our department. This course will be taken in addition to the regular MAT curriculum. Tuition for the first summer semester reflects this full-time course load. Additional details on this topic can be found on our admissions page.
