Clinical Instructor Privileges & Award Program

We are extremely fortunate to have clinical instructors like you who share your time, expertise, professional values, and patients with our students in providing high quality clinical education! Thank you! Quality clinical education is critical to effectively preparing our students to become competent physical therapists. It is also a rewarding and exciting component of the curriculum!

To thank you for your time and efforts, we are pleased to offer the following awards to our clinical instructors! Please contact either of us if you are interested in applying for Clinical Instructor Affiliate I or II status!

Clinical Instructor – Affiliate I

Awarded to CCCE & CI working with University of Utah DPT students! Once awarded, privileges are maintained dependent on current eligibility, and must be renewed every calendar year.

Eligibility

  • Serve as a CCCE at a site accepting at least 1 UUPT student during any calendar year
  • Serve as a CI for at least 1 UUPT student during any current calendar year.
  • Must not be working in a Physician Owned Physical Therapy (POPTS) practice

  • Access to Campus Recreation & Field House at Reduced Fees
  • Various discounts through student union
  • University Credit Union
  • University Bookstore
  • Paid APTA registration fees (member rate) to the Clinical Instructor Education & Credentialing and the Advanced Clinical Instructor Education & Credentialing Programs sponsored by Department

Clinical Instructor – Affiliate II

Awarded to clinical instructors who have demonstrated a continued commitment to, and excellence in, teaching University of Utah DPT students.

Eligibility

  • Serve as a CI for at least five (5) full-time UUPT students with an average rating of 4/5 on the APTA Student Evaluation of Clinical Experience and Clinical Instruction
  • APTA Credentialed as a CI or Advanced CI
  • Must not be working in a Physician Owned Physical Therapy (POPTS) practice

  • Paid APTA registration fees (member rate) to the Clinical Instructor Education & Credentialing and the Advanced Clinical Instructor Education & Credentialing Programs sponsored by Department
  • Choice of:
    • Reduced registration fee to selected continuing education courses offered by the department
    • OR
    • Current textbook (selected from a list of texts used in program coursework)
    • OR
    • Voucher towards APTA online continuing course
