Amit Kumar, PhD, has been elected a Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, earning the privilege of using the FACRM designation after his name. The ACRM Fellowship is one of the organization’s highest honors and provides lifetime recognition for members who have demonstrated sustained excellence and significant contributions to rehabilitation through scientific research, scholarly publications, leadership, mentorship, education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service to ACRM and the rehabilitation profession.
The recognition is awarded through a rigorous peer-review process to individuals whose careers have had a lasting impact on advancing rehabilitation research and improving the lives of people with disabilities.
As an interdisciplinary organization in rehabilitation research, ACRM brings together physicians, therapists, psychologists, engineers, neuroscientists, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals from around the world to help translate scientific discoveries into better clinical care and improved patient outcomes.
“Receiving this lifetime honor is one of the most meaningful milestones of my career,” Kumar said. “It reflects not only my work over the years but also the many outstanding collaborators, mentors, trainees, colleagues, and institutional partners who have been part of this journey. I am deeply grateful for their support and partnership.”
Kumar dedicates this honor to his PhD mentor, the late Kenneth Ottenbacher, whose guidance continues to shape his work, and to his students, who inspire and teach him every day.
Kumar’s work reflects a sustained commitment to advancing rehabilitation research and improving care for people with disabilities.
