 The Journal of Sport Rehabilitation (JSR) recently welcomed Dr. Stephan Bodkin, PhD, ATC, to its Editorial Board. Bodkin, an assistant professor in the University of Utah’s Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training, will help guide the journal’s mission to advance research and clinical practice in sport rehabilitation.

“I am passionate about sport rehabilitation research because it directly bridges cutting-edge science with the real-world needs of active individuals recovering from injury,” Bodkin said. “My work focuses on understanding and improving muscle function after orthopedic injury, with the goal of empowering clinicians to deliver evidence-based care that restores confidence, performance, and long-term health. This mission aligns perfectly with JSR’s vision to maximize health outcomes and return individuals safely to the activities they love.”

About Dr. Stephen Bodkin

Stephan Bodkin is a clinical scientist and medical educator with more than 10 years of experience developing and executing clinical trials and translating scientific outcomes to diverse stakeholders and key opinion leaders. He currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, where he leads federally (NIH) and industry-funded orthopedic clinical research projects as a laboratory director and principal investigator.

Bodkin has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in leading orthopedic journals and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for over 16 medical journals. He is passionate about advancing clinical research to promote activity independence and healthy lifestyles. In addition to his research, Bodkin develops curriculum for courses in sports medicine, evidence-based practice, and pathophysiology, and has delivered more than 26 national research presentations and 10 invited lectures.
