Micah Drummond Named as One of the U's Presidential Scholars - U of U School of Medicine

The University of Utah's Presidential Scholars included Micah Drummond from the College of Health's Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training and Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology. The award recognizes early to mid-career faculty members accomplishments in research and education.

Lab and Research

Micah's accomplishments bridge interdisciplinary research with astonishing results. In addition to being and associate professor and adjunct faculty in the College of Health, Micah also holds positions in the Department of Pathology and Department of Internal Medicine. He touts nearly 80 publications, funding from the National Institutes of Health and American Diabetes Association, numerous presentations across the west, all while mentoring Post-Doctorate, Doctorate, and Undergraduate Students.

According to Drummond, "[his lab] focuses on two general research themes: 1) Understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of muscle growth and metabolic function in healthy and mobility impaired older adults. 2) Novel exercise and nutritional strategies to improve muscle, metabolic and physical function deficits in older adults recovery during rehabilitation."
