Kinesiology Teaching (BS)
The Kinesiology Teaching program at the University of Utah is committed to the development of quality physical education teachers through the integration of theory and practice in a wide range of experiences and settings. Through intensive academic coursework and field experience, combined with continuous student reflection, the goal of the program is to provide individuals who believe ALL students can learn and deserve the opportunity to learn; who act on the principle that diversity is to be valued; and who are committed to providing quality physical education instruction. The Kinesiology Teaching curriculum is designed to help students meet the state requirements for teacher certification. Upon completion of the curriculum, students will be qualified to apply to a state certification program. Individuals who complete the Kinesiology Teaching curriculum in KINES without teacher certification requirements will receive a Bachelor of Science degree but will not be able to obtain certification to teach physical education in public K-12 schools. Students must have and maintain a 2.7 GPA to declare the teaching program.
