Once Accepted

A temporary faculty advisor will be assigned to help you map out your coursework before and during the program.

Supervisory Committee

The Supervisory Committee should be formed by the second year of study. Students must receive approval from each faculty member prior to filing the Supervisory Committee Form (pdf) and submitting to the HKR Graduate Program Manager, Andrea Moss, in HPER N 248, or email andrea.moss@health.utah.edu.

The Supervisory Committee Chair must be a full-time tenured or tenured track faculty member with expertise in the student’s area of interest. The committee is also comprised of four other committee members. Three of these members must be approved full-time and auxiliary faculty in the Health Promotion and Education Program.

The following are some considerations when organizing your committee.

  1. The chair should have expertise in your area of interest.
  2. One committee person should have expertise in the type of research and statistics that you will be using in your research.
  3. Outside members should be content or research experts.
