Josh Larson

Program Manager

Josh Larson is the manager for the undergraduate Athletic Training Program. In addition to this role, he also teaches, advises, and is a preceptor for the program. Josh has an interest in math and his primary research interest relates to the occupation and process of academic advising.

Shaleen Christensen

Program Assistant 

Shay is the Department Program Assistant. Her duties include student applications, graduate tracking, web updates, accounts payable/receivables, purchasing, travel, payroll, social media input and updates and finances.

Deb Bachan

Executive Secretary

Deb has worked at the University for years and currently divides her time between the Department of Physical Therapy and the Division of Occupational Therapy. In the Department of Physical Therapy, Deb answers phones, fields questions from current and prospective students and helps with the application process. She is also responsible for scheduling classes/special events within the building, assists with maintaining office machinery and supplies and reports any problems within the building.

Tami Garff

Administrative Assistant

Tami is the Department Administrative Assistant/Office Manager. Her duties include account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivables, department scholarship administration, purchasing, travel, payroll, and faculty retention, promotion & tenure process.

Sheldon Smith

Study Coordinator

Prior to coming to the Department of Physical Therapy, Sheldon spent nearly 10 years as an Exercise Specialist in Cardiac Rehabilitation both here in Salt Lake City at St. Mark’s hospital and at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. In 2001 Sheldon began working at the Utah Diabetes Center as an Exercise Program planner for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and became a Certified Diabetes Educator 2004. She took a position here in 2006 as a clinical research coordinator to help with exercise training studies for mobility impaired populations. We currently have several ongoing research projects looking at the effects of high force/low metabolic cost resistance training in patients with Parkinson’s Disease, Peripheral Neuropathy, post Total Knee Replacements and for individuals at risk for falling. In addition to the research, Sheldon manages a supervised exercise program for individuals with diabetes/pre-diabetes and seniors who want to stay healthy (DASH). Sheldon’s main interest professionally is to provide a means for individuals to maintain and/or improve their health through exercise.

Kristin Augustine

Assistant to the Director of Clinical Education

Kristin is the assistant to the Clinical Director of Education. Her duties include: setting up and maintaining clinical affiliation agreements, confirming student internships, scheduling mid-term visits, setting up CPI evaluations, and organizing Clinical Instructor courses.

Amy Powell-Versteeg

Physical Therapy Assistant, Balance & Mobility Clinic

Amy Powell-Versteeg has been a physical therapist assistant for over 12 years. She graduated from Salt Lake Community College with an Associates of Science degree and her PTA Certification. Amy came to University of Utah Health's Rehab and Wellness Clinic in 2006.

Amy is experienced in neurological rehabilitation and has worked directly with clients in a variety of rehabilitation settings. She has recently completed the Pelvic Floor Rehab Level 1 Course through the APTA and also is a certified LSVT BIG trainer and a Lymphedema Decongestive Therapist.

Amy is active in clinical education and is currently co-teaching the APTA Credentialed Clinical Trainer Program. She is also co-teaching the “Teaching and Learning in Physical Therapy I and II” course. Amy also organizes continuing education opportunities through the Department of Physical Therapy.

Amy is involved with the American Physical Therapy Association at both the State and National levels, and is a current member of the Salt Lake Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program Advisory Committee.

Tiffany Price

Office Assistant, Balance & Mobility Clinic

Tiffany answers phones, schedules patient appointments and maintains files for the Balance & Mobility Clinic.

Dee-Dee Darby-Duffin

Academic Advisor

Advises students and provides information and guidance in regards to their academic planning and progress towards admittance into the University Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Coordinates and participates in advising-related recruitment. Reviews students' applications for admissions into academic programs.
