Disaster Preparedness

We provide classes with emphasis in personal, community and corporate disaster preparedness. We also work with other departments on campus to offer a certificate in disaster preparedness. CERT training is available as a class or by contract. Courses can be customized to meet an organizations needs.

CERT Training (H EDU 5200)

Community Emergency Response Teams are utilized throughout the United States to provide assistance on a local level in an emergency. The training follows national guidelines put forth by FEMA and is generally recognized across jurisdictions Topics include first aid, communications, structural assessment, light search and rescue, fire suppression, disaster psychology, and hazard mitigation. This program is also offered by contract to companies and organizations.

Disaster Preparedness - Personal/Community (H EDU 5200)

Emergency Planning with emphasis on individual and community preparedness. Topics include first aid, communications, structural assessment, light search and rescue, fire suppression, disaster psychology, and hazard mitigation. This program is also offered by contract to companies and organizations.

Disaster Preparedness - Work site

Emergency planning with an emphasis on the occupational setting. Issues related to personal, group, and company wide planning and recovery are addressed. Document storage and retrieval, equipment protection and replacement, task shifting, and organizational design are important concepts for the recovery phase. These courses are offered by contract to companies needed assistance with disaster preparedness.
